Changes to fares and tickets

School bus fare increases commencing from Sunday, 30 March 2025

From Sunday 30th March, school bus fares in West Yorkshire will increase following a review of bus fares for under 19s by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.

This change will make sure all students across the region are paying the same fare, no matter how they travel to school or college. While we appreciate this may impact families, these fares have remained unchanged since September 2020, despite rising service costs.

Secondary school fares:

  • The single fare on most secondary school bus services will rise from £1.20 to £1.60 (see exceptions below).
  • Prices for MCard MyDay, MyWeek, MyMonth, MyAcademicYear and MyYear tickets will also increase.

Exceptions: cash fares on the following services will not change and MCards remain as not valid:

Primary school services

  • The single fare on most primary school bus services will rise from £1.00 to £1.30.
  • The price of the weekly ticket purchased from the driver will increase from £8.00 to £10.50.

Exceptions: fares on the following services will not change.

  • P51: £2.50 per single one-way trip. Weekly ticket £13.50.
  • S20: £1.50 per single one-way trip. Weekly ticket £15.00.
